Target Audience
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of Northeast AMCP affiliate members in the roles of pharmacy directors, clinical pharmacists, specialty pharmacists, medical directors, nurses, quality directors, and other managed care professionals.

Statement of Need/Program Overview
Within the space of just a few years, several new retinal treatments have been approved for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy/diabetic macular edema (DR/DME), promising increased durability and better patient outcomes. These conditions can significantly impact vision and quality of life for patients. The program will explore the clinical, emotional, and logistical challenges faced by patients, highlight the importance of timely diagnosis and effective treatment strategies, and emphasize multidisciplinary approaches to optimize patient outcomes and quality of life. Practical insights into improving treatment adherence and shared decision-making will also be covered to support better care delivery. We will also explore regional perspectives on AMD and DR/DME, identify opportunities to improve the quality of care, and highlight collaborative approaches and health plan best practices to enhance patient outcomes.

Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

Assess evidence-based treatment strategies and guidance for optimal patient outcomes in AMD and DR/DME
Characterize pharmacologic treatment options for AMD and DR/DME in terms of efficacy, safety, and dosing intervals
Outline collaborative payer/provider initiatives to improve the treatment of AMD and DR/DME
Evaluate the impact of utilization management programs on outcomes in patients affected by SDOH
