Dr. Mohammad Dahrouj is a member of the Retina Service at Mass Ear and Eye, who specializes in treating diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal detachment, as well as surgery for vitreoretinal disorders and ocular trauma.


Dr. Dahrouj earned his MD from the Medical University of South Carolina and American University of Beirut, and his PhD in Cell and Molecular Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics from the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed an Internal Medicine residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine before completing his ophthalmology residency at Harvard Medical School. As a resident he received the 2017 Gragoudas-Folkman Award, which supported his research on retinal microvasculature and testing the hypothesis that C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) can suppress aberrant angiogenesis in diabetic conditions under the mentorship of Leo Kim, MD, PhD. He then completed a two-year medical vitreoretinal fellowship at Mass Eye and Ear, where he received the 2020 Retina Patient Care Award.
