STATEMENT OF NEED/PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a complex disease that requires a collaborative approach to care to achieve optimal patient care and outcomes. Disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) are a core component of MS management. Due to a lack of head-to-head trials it is difficult to determine which therapy would be most effective for MS; however, it is possible to evaluate current therapies based on their effects on sustained disability, relapse rate, lesion load, brain atrophy, and cognitive dysfunction. Members of the clinical team, as well as patients, need to coordinate these efforts when choosing the appropriate therapy and continually monitor the disease while managing symptoms and the psychological aspects of the disease. Therefore, it is important for specialty pharmacists and other managed care professionals to be aware of and engaged in the care and treatment of patients with MS.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to demonstrate improved ability to:

Review recent insights into the safety, efficacy, and attributes of emerging MS therapies
Apply managed care MS treatment algorithms with recent clinical trial data
Analyze care pathways and their application to manage economic outcomes in MS
Employ health coaching strategies to enhance MS patient engagement in their care

Upon completion of the full CME/CE activity, a certificate will be made available immediately to download and print.

For Pharmacists: Upon successfully completing the post-test with a score of 75% or better and the activity evaluation, you may immediately submit your CPE credit to the NABP CPE Monitor Service. This may require you to add or update the e-profile ID/date of birth information saved in your account. Credit must be uploaded to CPE Monitor within 30 days.
