Nationally recognized multiple myeloma expert David Vesole, M.D., Ph.D. joined John Theurer Cancer Center as Co-Division Chief and Director of Research for the Multiple Myeloma Division in September 2009. He brings more than 25 years of experience in stem cell transplant therapy for the treatment of multiple myeloma. Dr. Vesole previously served as director of the bone marrow transplant program at Loyola University Chicago – Stritch School of Medicine. Before joining Loyola, Dr. Vesole served as an attending physician at St. Vincent’s Comprehensive Cancer Center in New York. Before that, he was a professor of medicine and clinical director of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Dr. Vesole has authored more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, including Journal of Clinical Oncology and Blood. He recently served as co-chair of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group Myeloma Committee and co-chair of the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research Plasma Cell Disorder Committee. He currently serves on the International Myeloma Foundation Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Vesole received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School. He completed postdoctoral fellowships in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and in hematology and oncology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. |
