Carl V. Asche, PhD, MBA, is the Director of the Center for Health Outcomes Research and Professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, Illinois. Prior to joining the University of Illinois in 2011, Dr. Asche spent 7 years as a Research Associate Professor of Pharmacotherapy at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy in Salt Lake City, UT. Dr. Asche received his PhD (Economics) from the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom. Prior to joining the University of Utah in 2004, he was employed in the pharmaceutical industry with Aventis Pharmaceuticals and the Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Group, where he managed health economics and outcomes research, applied to both research and development and customer marketing areas in highly matrix-structured organizations.
While in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Asche drove innovative, successful, integrated approaches to outcomes research strategies and developed economic/outcomes research strategic plans and dissemination strategies. He is currently on the editorial boards for a number of peer-reviewed journals and is an active member of several national and international professional societies. His research and publications expand across health systems, health services, health outcomes, and a wide range of therapeutic areas.
