  Who Should Attend?

This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of managed care pharmacy directors, clinical pharmacists, quality directors, medical directors, members of the AMCP, and other managed health care professionals attending the AMCP 2019 Managed Care and Specialty Pharmacy Annual Meeting.

  Statement of Need/Program Overview

The management of hemophilia is complex; however, appropriate management is vital to minimizing and/or preventing complications that can contribute to poorer health outcomes and higher health care resource utilization. Thus, there is a need for continued education in several key areas involving the effective management of patients with hemophilia in managed care and specialty pharmacy settings. The multidisciplinary faculty panel will emphasize the need for a well-coordinated patient management effort, the importance of understanding the most cost-effective ways of using available treatments, and the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders, which includes leveraging the success of the comprehensive care model utilized by HTCs.

  Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to demonstrate improved ability to:
  • Describe recent insights into the safety, efficacy, and attributes of recently approved and emerging hemophilia treatment options
  • Review alignment of recently approved therapies in the current hemophilia treatment algorithm
  • Explain hemophilia-related complications associated with inhibitor development and its significant clinical and economic consequences
  • Apply processes for managed care and specialty pharmacy professionals to improve communications and collaborations with HTCs
