After receiving her Doctor of Pharmacy, Vanita Pindolia completed her pharmacy residency training at the Detroit Medical Center. Vanita joined Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) in 1993 as a Bone Marrow Transplant Pharmacy Specialist for Henry Ford Hospital. In 2000, Vanita transitioned to ambulatory care as the Manager of Pharmacy Benefits for HFHS. In 2003, Vanita advanced to Director of Pharmacy for HFHS Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Services and this year, she was promoted to Vice President. In her current position, she oversees the following:
- Ambulatory Pharmacy Clinical Programs
- Piloting Clinical Pharmacy integration in the HFHS Medical Home model
- Medication Therapy Management (which includes over 20 disease states)
- Pharmacist role in ambulatory disease management programs for HFHS
- Specialty disease medication management programs
- Pharmacy-based Quality Improvement Programs
- Drug Utilization Programs
- Experiential teaching on-site (Adjunct Faculty for Wayne State University Pharmacy School & University of Michigan Pharmacy School)
- Health Alliance Plan Formulary/Ambulatory Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee
In 2008, Vanita was invited by Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services to present the Health Alliance Plan Medication Therapy Management (MTM) Program methodology and results to their MTM leadership in Washington D.C. That same year, she was one of fifteen co-investigators across the US selected by American Health Insurance Plans for their National 3-year Integrated Model Medication Therapy Management research analysis. Vanita has been selected by the National Quality Forum to serve on several steering committees and was also selected by the University of Michigan College Of Pharmacy Center for Medication Use, Policy and Economics to be a member of the University of Michigan Appropriate Medication Use Strategic Advisory. In recent years, Vanita has been invited to speak at several national meetings on the topic of ‘Integrating Medication Management into Medical Home Models’ including AMCP, ACCP, APhA, ASCP, and AARP. |
