Zachary Contreras, PharmD has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Dr. Contreras has held the position of Director of Pharmacy Benefits at Sharp Health Plan since May 2020. Prior to this, Dr. Contreras was the Vice President of Account Management at MedImpact Healthcare Systems, Inc. where he led a team in managing top managed care organization clients. Dr. Contreras also worked at Sutter Health as the Pharmacy Benefits Coordinator for SutterSelect, successfully reducing pharmacy spend and trend. Before that, he was the Senior Pharmacist and Manager of Pharmacy Benefit & Claims at Blue Shield of California where he oversaw the pharmacy benefits program. Dr. Contreras has also held positions at IMS Health/MedInitiatives Inc. as the Director of Pharmacy Solutions and Senior Manager of Pharmacy Informatics, as well as at Pharmaceutical Care Network/NMHC, Inc. as the Director of Utilization Review.

Dr. Contreras completed his education at the University of the Pacific, where he obtained a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree in 1988, specializing in pharmacy.
